Laura K. Smith currently serves as Senior Advisor for Diversity Talent Acquisition at Dell Technologies and leads Gender Diversity recruitment efforts for North America Talent Acquisition. With a focus on driving a more diverse and inclusive workforce, she develops and implements programs and company initiatives to support Dell’s Progress Made Real Goal of having 50% of their global workforce and 40% of their people leaders be female by 2030. One of those programs, Dell’s Career ReStart, is designed to offer a programmatic approach to supporting women and men who are looking to return to the workforce after a break in their careers.
Laura began her career in recruitment for a non-profit healthcare system in Mississippi nearly 14 years ago. In 2014, she joined Oracle to build and implement their Diversity and Veteran Recruitment programs and then built and managed the company’s Global Internal Recruiting program. Laura joined Dell Technologies in October of 2019 and immediately began working to expand and improve diversity recruiting initiatives and enhance the Career ReStart program.
Laura was born and raised in South Mississippi where she currently lives with her husband and two children. She graduated with her undergraduate degree in Biology from The University of Southern Mississippi and later received her Master’s in Human Resource Development from Villanova University. Laura is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and as a Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador for Dell Technologies. She also serves as the Business Innovation Pillar Lead for Dell’s Women In Action Employee Resource Group’s remote chapter and has a passion for supporting and developing women in the workplace.
